The importance of advising

It is critical that students regularly meet with their advisors to ensure NKU is meeting the student's educational goals. While students may be advised by any professor (Drs. Hopkins, Hume, Neely, Thiel and Voelker) in the anthropology department, the following two professors have taken responsibility for advising anthropology students:

  • Dr. Douglas Hume, Master Advisor, Freshmen and Sophomore Anthropology Majors, Minors and Areas of Concentrations.
  • Dr. Barbara Thiel, Advisor, Junior and Senior Anthropology Majors, Minors and Areas of Concentrations.

In addition to program and general education advising, the following anthropology professors at NKU can also advise students who are interested in specific sub-disciplines of anthropology:

  • Dr. MaryCarol Hopkins: Cultural Anthropology
  • Dr. Douglas Hume: Applied and Linguistic Anthropology
  • Dr. Sharlotte Neely: Cultural Anthropology
  • Dr. Barbara Thiel: Archaeology and Physical Anthropology
  • Dr. Judy Voelker: Archaeology and Museum Studies
